Terms of Service

1. Introduction & Acceptance

By creating an account or using PiiBlur, you agree to these Terms of Service. PiiBlur is operated by PiiBlur, an unregistered company based in England. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. The Service

PiiBlur provides AI-powered detection and obfuscation of personally identifiable information (PII) in images and video. The service uses machine learning models to identify and blur PII such as faces, license plates, and other sensitive information. Detection is probabilistic and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.

3. Human Review Requirement

PiiBlur is designed as a preprocessing tool, not a final step. You are responsible for manually reviewing all processed media before publishing, distributing, or otherwise making it available to third parties.

PiiBlur does not guarantee that all PII will be detected or sufficiently obfuscated. By using the service, you accept that human review of all output is required and that PiiBlur bears no liability for any PII that is missed, incorrectly detected, or insufficiently obfuscated.

4. Accuracy

Any accuracy figures referenced in marketing materials or documentation are theoretical estimates and should not be relied upon as guarantees. Actual performance varies depending on media quality, PII type, lighting conditions, resolution, and other factors.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to upload illegal content, abuse the API, or attempt to reverse-engineer the service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or use the service in a way that harms other users or our infrastructure.

6. Regulated Data

PiiBlur is a general-purpose visual redaction tool. It is not designed or certified for use as a compliance solution under any regulatory framework, including but not limited to healthcare privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH), financial regulations (e.g., GLBA), or education privacy laws (e.g., FERPA). PiiBlur does not offer a Business Associate Agreement (BAA).

If you choose to process regulated data (such as health, financial, or education records) through PiiBlur, you are solely responsible for ensuring that your use complies with all applicable laws and regulations, subject to the human review requirement in Section 3. PiiBlur accepts no liability for regulatory non-compliance arising from your use of the service.

7. Billing & Cancellation

Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscription terms are determined by your selected plan. If you cancel your subscription, it remains active until the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

8. Your Data & Media

Original files you upload are deleted immediately after processing. Processed outputs are stored until you delete them or close your account. We use Cloudflare R2 for file storage and Modal.com for AI processing. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by English law, PiiBlur is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages resulting from missed PII, privacy breaches caused by unreviewed output, or reliance on the service without human verification.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
